Our History

Senaat’s history spans four decades of successful industrial investment.

In 1973, the ‘General Industry Corporation’ was established to fulfil the vision of the late President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan for industrial and economic diversification. The Corporation was then incorporated as a public entity in 1979.

The company successfully invested in the oil and gas services and metals sectors before it was reincorporated in 2004 to General Holding Corporation by way of Law No. 5 as a Public Joint Stock Company owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.

To strengthen its position within the industrial sector, General Holding Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation PJSC (ADBIC) merged under a new corporate brand, Senaat.

Senaat has invested over AED 19 billion in the non-oil sector since 2004 and continues to build world-class businesses that contributes to the crreation of an integrated network of national industries that contributes to the Emirate's economic performance while promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology.
